Fatal house fire in Essex 'not suspicious'

A house fire in Essex in which a 36-year-old man died is not thought to be suspicious, police said.

Fire crews and police were called to the blaze in Stansted Road, Elsenham at about 22:00 GMT on Saturday.

Essex firefighters rescued the man from a bedroom in the house but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man's 71-year-old father, who also lived in the house, is being treated for smoke inhalation at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow.

The fire was out by 23:39 GMT. A joint investigation by Essex police and the fire service to find the exact cause of the fire is being carried out.
