A third person has been arrested in connection with the murder of an Essex man found dead in his flat.

The body of Roy Sly, 53, was found inside his home in Station Road, Westcliff, on 10 January.

A 37-year-old man, from the Merthyr Tydfil area of Wales, was arrested earlier in the Southend area on suspicion of murder, Essex Police said.

Two others, a man and woman, are accused of Mr Sly's murder and due before Chelmsford Crown Court in April.

They were both remanded in custody.

A post-mortem examination was inconclusive. Further tests are being carried out to establish how Mr Sly died.
