Sex assault near South Woodham Ferrers' square

A woman was sexually assaulted while walking home after a night out in Essex.

The victim was close to Queen Elizabeth Square, South Woodham Ferrers, near Chelmsford, when she was approached by a group of men in an alley at 02:45 GMT. One of the men attacked her.

Police said she has been left very distressed and has scratches and bruises.

They have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

Officers have carried out house-to-house inquires and are reviewing CCTV.

The woman has been interviewed but is currently unable to give any descriptions, a police spokesman said.
