Homes evacuated after scrapyard fire in Tilbury, Essex

A fire has broken out at a scrapyard in Essex which has led to nearby homes being evacuated and a 200-metre exclusion zone set up around the site.

More than 75 firefighters are tackling the blaze in Hume Avenue, Tilbury, which started at about 19:00 GMT.

Essex Fire Service said about 10 cars in a warehouse on the site caught fire and the site contains an unknown number of acetylene cylinders.

Fire crews are currently evacuating homes near to the site.
