Emergency call police car crashes in Colchester

A police car responding to a 999 emergency call was involved in a collision with a vehicle which then crashed into a house in Essex.

The collision happened at about 08:30 GMT at the junction of Barrack Street and Victor Road, Colchester, and involved a white Ford Focus estate police car and a Mazda MX5.

The driver of the Mazda, which hit a house, was treated by paramedics.

A passenger in the police car was taken to hospital with a hand injury.

The police car was on its way to a report of an assault when the collision happened.

Any witnesses or anyone who saw either vehicle immediately before the collision are asked to contact Essex Police.
