Man dies in Asheldham industrial incident

A man has died following an industrial incident at an animal feed production site in Essex.

The incident occurred at the Dengie Crops Ltd plant in Asheldham, near Southminster, at about 13:40 BST on Tuesday.

Ambulance and fire crews, as well as the Essex Air Ambulance and a hazardous area response team, were called to reports of a man trapped in machinery.

The victim's identity has not yet been released. An investigation has begun.

Ian Hassard, managing director of Dengie Crops Ltd, said: "We are deeply concerned about the incident and our thoughts and sympathies are with the family involved.

"The emergency services are involved and a full investigation into the death is under way.

"Dengie's first concern is always the welfare of its staff and visitors and we are doing all we can to help with the inquiry."
