Boat rescued after becoming stranded off Essex coast

An 18ft (6m) angling boat has been towed back to a marina in Essex after becoming grounded off the coast.

The vessel was travelling from Ipswich in Suffolk to Southend in Essex and the skipper was unsure of his position.

"Thames Coastguard utilised local knowledge to identify his position at Dengie Flat off Bradwell-on-Sea," a spokesman said.

West Mersea lifeboat found the vessel, with two people on board. It was escorted into Burnham Marina.
