Southend seafront rape: Man, 20, charged

A 20-year-old man has been charged in connection with a rape near a seafront in Essex.

Jamie Diss, a builder from High Road in Benfleet, has been charged with two counts of rape in Clifftown Parade, Southend, last week.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Southend Magistrates' Court later.

A 21-year-old woman was attacked in the early hours of 11 May, a police spokeswoman said.
