Essex County Council to spend extra £11m on potholes

Repairing potholes caused by severe weather conditions will cost Essex County Council an extra £11m.

Last winter's heavy snowfall, followed by a hot dry spring and then severe flooding, has damaged parts of the county's road network.

The council has proposed a 10-week programme of work, starting later this month, to clear a backlog.

Councillors are to be asked to back the extra money on top of the £24.7m already earmarked for road repairs.
