London 2012: Army lookout post on Epping Forest council offices

Soldiers have set up an "observation post" on top of an Essex council building to watch for security threats during the Olympics and Paralympics.

The lookout site at Epping Forest District Council's civic offices tower in Epping is one of 15 in the London area.

The purpose of the observation posts is to monitor restricted airspace.

The council said it had agreed to allow the Ministry of Defence to let the Army use the tower.

A spokesman for the council said no weapons would be kept at the site.
