Two men have appeared in court charged with the murder of a 39-year-old Essex man.

Anton Jardin, of Rayleigh, was found dead at a house in London Road, Chelmsford, on Sunday.

Sam Martin, 25, of Eastwod Road in Leigh-on-Sea, and Clint Spearpoint, 34, of Kelso Close, Rayleigh, appeared before magistrates in Chelmsford.

They were remanded in custody to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on Wednesday.

Eight men who were also held in connection with Mr Jardin's death have been bailed by police.

Three men, aged 23, 25, and 29, are due to return to police on 19 September.

Two men aged 27 and three men aged 28, 29 and 35 were bailed until 26 September.

A 25-year-old woman from Hockley, arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice in connection with Mr Jardin's death, has been released on bail until 21 September.
