Driver, 87, guilty of Essex road death

An 87-year-old man admits causing death by dangerous driving after an elderly man was hit by a car in Essex.

Ambrose Skingle, 86, was struck in Coppice Row, Theydon Bois, near Epping, on 17 January. He died in hospital in Harlow on 13 February.

Peter Cole, of London Road, Abridge, who appeared at Chelmsford Crown Court, also admitted making a false statement to obtain a driving licence.

Cole will be sentenced in November.
