'Soldier' sought over Essex rape

A man claiming to be a soldier raped an 18-year-old woman after she met him at a bar in Essex, police have said.

The woman was admitted to hospital after the attack on Thursday.

When she reported it to police, she said she met the man at Missoula in Colchester and went on to a friend's house in Great Horkesley, where she was assaulted.

Essex Police said the man had told her he was in the Army and came from Southend.

The suspect is described as white, in his 20s, with brown hair, 5ft 8in tall, and wearing a white T-shirt, beige jumper and jeans.

The woman is being supported and questioned by specially-trained officers, a police spokeswoman said.
