Man dies as dinghy capsizes off Southend

A man in his 70s has died and a second man has been taken to hospital after a dinghy capsized in the sea off Southend, Essex.

The men were found by a lifeboat crew following several calls from the public at 14:45 GMT.

They discovered one man clinging to the boat 300 yards off the coast, while the other had begun to drift away.

The men were treated on the shore for up to an hour. One man died at the scene.
