M25 Essex crash: Father and son among victims

A father and son were among the victims of a crash on the M25 near Aveley in Essex on Tuesday lunchtime.

The father, who died, was 79 and from Ilford. He was travelling in the same car as his son, 58, who is in a stable condition in the Royal London Hospital.

A 47-year-old woman, from Basildon, is also in a stable condition at the same hospital. The crash involved four lorries and six cars.

A 58-year-old lorry driver from Germany is still in police custody at Basildon.

He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A 43-year-old man from Poland has been released without charge.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the crash to contact them.
