A former cricket club captain out for eight "ducks" in a row has scored his first runs in two years.

Rob Pritchard appeared for Ingatestone and Fryerning's second XI against Great Totham at the weekend.

But on the fifth ball he was struck in the face. After retiring hurt, he returned to the crease and finished five not out.

Before the match, Mr Pritchard pledged to score and bring the run of ducks to an end.
