A lorry driver has admitted killing a motorist on the M25 by driving dangerously.

Four lorries and six cars were involved in a collision at Aveley which closed the clockwise carriageway for nine hours in April.

Ronald Moughton, 79, of Lowbrook Road in Ilford, died at the scene.

Anton Maizen, 58, from Wixhausen in Germany, admitted three driving offences when he appeared at Basildon Crown Court.

Mr Moughton's 58-year-old son - his passenger at the time - and a 47-year-old Basildon woman driving a Mercedes were seriously injured in the crash.

Maizen was remanded in custody until 30 August, when he will be sentenced.
