Westcliff attempted murder: 18-year-old man charged

An 18-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a fight in Essex.

A 20-year-old man from Rayleigh was attacked during the fight on Fairfax Drive, Westcliff at about 19:00 BST on 11 July.

He was stabbed several times and taken to Southend University Hospital.

Eric Brophy, of St Mary's Road, Southend, is due before magistrates in the town. He is also charged with GBH, ABH, and five counts of robbery.

A 17-year-old boy from Southend, arrested on Sunday in Westcliff on suspicion of attempted murder, has been bailed until 29 October.

Connor Freeman, 18, of Southchurch Boulevard, Southend, has also been charged with attempted murder.
