Mark Czapla in murder arrest over Kirsty Humphrey death

The flat in Queen Elizabeth Way was sealed off for forensic examination

A 23-year-old woman killed in a flat in Essex while a child was in the property has been named by police.

Kirsty Humphrey was found dead in Queen Elizabeth Way, Colchester, at about 07:30 BST. A post-mortem examination is due to take place on Thursday.

Police have arrested 24-year-old Mark Czapla on suspicion of murder.

Police confirmed a child was present at the time of the killing and is now in the care of relatives. It is understood the child is Ms Humphrey's daughter.

Ms Humphrey had been reported as being "seriously unwell" before she was found dead.

Armed police attended and sealed off the area as part of their investigations.

Anyone with information is asked to call Essex Police.
