A man arrested in connection with the attempted murder of two people at a travellers' site will not face charges.

The 29-year-old, from Islington, north London, was arrested in September on suspicion of assisting an offender. He had been on bail pending further inquiries.

Two men in their 20s were treated after being shot in the leg and chest at the site in Navestock, Essex.

Francis O'Donoghue, 27, has been charged with their attempted murder.

He has also been charged with possessing class B drugs.

The window-fitter was remanded in custody by Southend Magistrates' Court earlier this month.

He is due to appear at Basildon Crown Court on 30 December.
