Beaulieu deal for new Chelmsford schools and railway station agreed
The developer behind a £1bn housing development has agreed to fund three schools and a railway station as part of a deal struck with councils.
Countryside wants to build 3,600 new homes to the north east of Chelmsford's city centre.
Under a planning agreement, the firm, which hopes to start work in the next few weeks, has agreed to pay for a number of community facilities.
Chelmsford City Council said the deal struck would benefit the city.
As part of the Beaulieu development, Countryside has agreed with Essex County Council and the city council to fund a relief road connecting Beaulieu to the A12, two primary and one secondary school and other community facilities.
There will also a new railway station serving the East Anglia mainline.
