Chelmsford chemical incident: Man faces drug charges

A man is facing drugs charges after a chemical incident left six people in hospital.

Six people were taken to hospital in October after inhaling chemicals in New London Road, Chelmsford, Essex.

Police said equipment used in drug production was later found at an address in North Avenue in the town.

Essex Police said a 19-year-old man had been arrested and charged and will appear before Chelmsford magistrates on 21 March.

The man is accused of one count of producing a Class B drug, two counts of possessing a Class A drug, five counts of possessing a Class B drug and one count of possessing a Class C drug.

The incident on 2 October saw the building in New London Road evacuated.

Six people had to be "decontaminated" on site and taken to hospital for check-ups.
