Basildon police pursuit crash injures woman and child

A mother and her five-year-old daughter are injured in a crash with a police car which was pursuing another vehicle

The marked police BMW 530 collided with a silver Audi A3 at the Sadlers Farm roundabout at Bowers Gifford near Basildon just before 13:00 BST.

The woman driving the Audi had serious leg and chest injuries and was in a stable condition at Basildon Hospital. Her daughter had minor neck injuries.

The two male police officers were treated for minor injuries.

A male passenger in the Audi was not hurt.

Essex Police said the police car was pursuing another vehicle and had its emergency lights and siren on.

Traffic officers closed all roads at the A13/A130 interchange while an investigation was carried out and debris cleared.
