An investigation is under way after more than 40 firefighters were called to a "major fire" at a farm building.

The presence of acetylene cylinders hampered efforts to quell the fire inside a farm workshop in North Benfleet on Tuesday night.

Police closed off nearby roads while fire crews tackled the fire.

Divisional officer Neil Fenwick said: "It's too early to say how the fire started. We are conducting an investigation."
