Canvey Island PC fined and suspended for harassing woman
A police officer who admitted harassing a woman by telephone and text messages has been fined £500 and suspended from duty.
PC Duncan Grant, 35, of Essex Police, pleaded guilty at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court.
He was sentenced to a 12-month restraining order and told to pay a £50 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
The officer, based at Canvey Island, had also gone to the woman's home address, the court was told.
Police said they arrested Grant after an allegation of harassment was received.
"He is currently suspended from duty and his position will now be considered in light of the court result," a police spokesman said.
