Two people have been remanded in custody charged with thefts of British Legion Poppy collection tins in Essex.

The pair are due at Chelmsford Crown Court on 6 January. Archer has been charged with 17 thefts and Taylor 16.

Tins were taken from at least 14 shops in the Chelmsford, Maldon, Colchester and Braintree areas, police said.
