Pedestrian, 92, killed in car crash in Loughton

A 92-year-old pedestrian has died after being hit by a car, which police say was being driven by a 92-year-old man.

The crash happened in Alderton Hill, Loughton, Essex, on Wednesday evening.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries but later died, an Essex Police spokeswoman said.

The car driver, who is from the Buckhurst Hill area, was not injured and was allowed to leave the scene. The road was closed for several hours for investigations.

The spokeswoman said the force would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, especially anyone who may have seen the pedestrian just beforehand.
