Southend 'hit and run' mobility scooter crash investigated

A mobility scooter rider left a woman needing plastic surgery after he lost control and hit her, police say.

The woman, aged in her 60s, was seriously hurt at Southend bus station, Essex Police said.

Officers are investigating reports the driver lost control on the pavement after going over a pedestrian crossing.

The rider, described as white, in his 70s and wearing glasses, a brown cloth cap and jacket, left the scene after the crash on 7 April.
