Police say it is a "miracle" nobody was killed after an 85-year-old woman drove the wrong way along a dual carriageway.

She had been driving towards Colchester on the London-bound carriageway of the A12 when motorists alerted police.

The woman surrendered her licence when police found her vehicle at Feering in Essex at about 14:30 BST on Thursday.

Sgt Colin Shead said: "It was a miracle that there wasn't a collision and that we not dealing with another fatality on the county's roads."
