Harlow man charged over Robert Halfon MP Twitter shooting threat
A man has been charged with sending a tweet in which he threatened to shoot dead a Conservative MP.
Kier Ashby, 21, of Harlow, is accused of sending the "menacing" and "grossly offensive" message to Harlow MP Robert Halfon on 23 June.
The tweet - sent on the night of the EU Referendum - came a week after Labour MP Jo Cox was fatally shot and stabbed.
Mr Ashby, who was charged on Tuesday, is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court on 13 July.
