Essex PCSO driven at while on traffic duty in Grays
A motorist drove his car at a PCSO while she was directing traffic away from a man having medical treatment, police said.
The officer, who was forced to jump out of his path to avoid being hit, was assisting colleagues and paramedics dealing with an elderly man who had collapsed in Grays, in Essex on Tuesday.
Piotr Kostuj, 19, of Conway Gardens, Grays has been charged with five offences including dangerous driving and attempted grievous bodily harm.
He appeared before magistrates earlier and is due at Basildon Crown Court at a later date.
Mr Kostuj, was arrested shortly after the incident on Orsett Road in the town, and was also charged with failing to stop for police, driving without insurance and having an invalid driving licence.
He was remanded in police custody before his appearance at Basildon Magistrates' Court later.
The elderly man who was taken ill in Grays died at the scene, Essex Police said.
