Three charged over Harwich care worker murder

Three people have been charged in connection with the murder of a man who died from serious head injuries after being assaulted with a "metal object".

Michael Beckwith, 44, a care worker, was attacked in Barrack Lane, Harwich, on 31 July. He died two days later.

Scott Swift, 27, of Station Road, Dovercourt, Rebecca Ryan, 21, of Hilltop Rise, Weeley and a 17-year-old boy from Harwich have been charged with conspiracy to murder.

They will appear in court later.

Mr Beckwith worked as a carer at a residential home for people with mental health illnesses.

His mother said her son, a keen fisherman, "would be very much missed by me and all who knew him."
