Man found collapsed in Cheltenham

A 36-year-old man is critically ill in hospital after being found collapsed on a street in Cheltenham.

Police were called to Wellington Lane at 0800 GMT on Saturday after a passer-by discovered the man.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said when the man was found he was very cold and he may have been lying on the pavement for some time.

"Detectives are trying to piece together the man's movements and are appealing for witnesses," he said.

"Anyone who was in the area between 10pm on Friday and 8am on Saturday is asked to contact police or Crimestoppers.

"The victim was taken to Cheltenham General Hospital for treatment.

"The man is white and was wearing a black Superdry jacket, blue jeans and a green striped shirt.

"His next of kin have been traced and are aware of the incident."
