Forest of Dean boy struck by vehicle

A 13-year-old boy has been left with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle in the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire.

The child suffered leg injuries when he was hit by a Jeep Grand Cherokee at Bailey Hill in Yorkley.

He was taken to hospital in Bristol, where he is in a serious condition.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident, which happened at 1640 GMT on Friday.

Both the driver of the Cherokee and the boy are understood to be from Yorkley.

Witnesses have been asked to contact Gloucestershire Police.
