Men posing as police officers attack Stroud woman

A 67-year-old woman was assaulted and had her purse stolen by two men posing as police officers.

The woman was attacked at her home in Archway Gardens, Stroud, at about 1850 GMT on Tuesday.

The woman questioned the men, who were not wearing uniforms and carried no identification, before they pushed her inside her home and attacked her, causing hand and mouth injuries.

The men ran off via her back door after she set off an alarm.

Both men are described as white. One was in his 30s, around 5ft 10in, with a long thin face and receding hair. He was wearing dark clothing.

The second man is shorter and had short black hair and dark facial stubble.

Det Sgt Alex Casling said: "We're asking the public to let us know if they saw anybody or any vehicles acting suspiciously in the area."
