Cheltenham shop worker threatened with knife

A robber threatened a Cheltenham shop worker with an 18-inch knife before stealing cash.

Gloucestershire Police said the weapon was described as "like a small sword", with a polished chrome-coloured blade.

The thief forced the male worker at the furniture shop on Tewkesbury Road to open the safe.

The robber is described as in his late 20s, about 6ft 3in tall and of average build. He wore a woollen hat and scarf pulled up to his eyes.

The shop worker was uninjured during the incident, which happened at about 1100 GMT on Tuesday.

Police are appealing for witnesses.
