Appeal after man injured in Cheltenham crash

A fresh appeal for information has been made after a man was found seriously injured during the week of the Cheltenham Festival.

The 52-year-old, from Leeds, is believed to have been injured during a road accident on 16 March.

Police said he was discovered in a steep embankment by Evesham Road, near Cheltenham Racecourse.

A 46-year-old woman from Bishops Cleeve was arrested in connection with the incident.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said the woman was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop following a collision and has been released on bail, pending further inquiries.

He said the injured man, whose condition is not thought to be life threatening, is being treated in Leeds.

Sgt David Kania, of Gloucestershire police, appealed for any witnesses, such as people leaving the racecourse at the time, to contact the force.

"We are also aware that potential witnesses may have been visiting the races from further afield," he added.
