Driver, 33, freed after colliding with tree in Tirley

A driver was left trapped in his car after it became partially submerged in water when he crashed into a tree in Tirley, Gloucestershire.

The 33-year-old was driving a white Citroen ZX towards Hasfield when he hit a tree on a minor road off the B4213 and ended up in the water.

The driver, from Gloucester, suffered multiple injuries and was airlifted to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 1615 BST on Thursday.

There was no-one else in the car when the crash happened.
