Body found in search for missing Gloucestershire man

Police searching for a missing Gloucestershire man have found a body near Portishead in North Somerset.

Mark Peachey, 42, was last seen leaving his home in Beech Road, Yorkley, at about 0300 BST on Sunday, 1 May.

His red Shogun truck was found in a layby just off the A48, near the old Severn Bridge the following evening.

A spokesman for Portishead lifeboat station said a body was recovered from the Severn Estuary at Battery Point on Saturday afternoon.

A formal identification is yet to take place. Gloucestershire Police said the county's coroner had been informed.
