Gloucestershire police motorcyclist badly hurt in crash

A police motorcyclist on duty has been injured in a crash on the A417 on the outskirts of Gloucester.

The 47-year-old's BMW motorbike was in collision with a blue Ford Focus on the Barnwood link road on Sunday morning.

The road was closed between the C&G and Zoons Court roundabouts to allow an air ambulance to land and take the officer to Bristol's Frenchay hospital for treatment.

His injuries were said to be serious but not life-threatening.

The driver of the car was not injured.

Severe traffic delays were caused when the road between the C&G roundabout and Elmbridge Court was closed for several hours while an investigation was carried out.
