Gloucestershire pair deny murdering man

Two men have pleaded not guilty to murdering a father from Gloucester.

At Bristol Crown Court, Michael Sexton, 28, of Moors Avenue, Cheltenham, denied murder but admitted robbing Keith Soons, 36.

Richard Smith, 27, of Fairview Road, also Cheltenham, denied murder and robbery.

Mr Soons was found with fatal injuries in Cheltenham on 5 February. The accused are due to face trial on 28 November at Bristol Crown Court.

They were remanded in custody, along with Carolanne Williams who is accused of perverting the course of justice and witness intimidation in connection with the case.

The case against Ms Williams, 20, of of Fairview Road, Cheltenham, was deferred for a month.

Mr Soons had been on a night out and was found the following morning with serious injuries in Wellington Lane in Pitville, Cheltenham.

He was taken to hospital but died later.
