Down Ampney airfield rave party broken up by police

Police have broken up an illegal rave party in an isolated airfield near Cirencester in Gloucestershire.

Officers were called to Down Ampney just after 0400 BST after reports of noise and music coming from the site.

About 100 people, 40 vehicles and two sound systems were found at the event. Revellers were served a notice to leave and the site was clear by 0900 BST.

There were no arrests, but police said about damage put at about £200 was caused gaining entry to the airfield.
