Cheltenham man 'on stag do' dies at Subtone nightclub

A man in his 40s, believed to have been out on his stag night, has died after a visit to a nightclub in Cheltenham.

Great Western Ambulance Service was called to Subtone, on the Promenade, at 0330 BST on Sunday after reports that a man had fallen down a flight of stairs.

He went into cardiac arrest at the scene and was taken to Cheltenham General Hospital, where he died, a spokesman said.

No-one from the club has been available to comment on the incident.

An ambulance service spokesman said the victim was being given CPR by another man - believed to be a doctor - when paramedics arrived.

"My understanding is that the patient was on his stag night," the spokesman said.

Police said the death was not being treated as suspicious and that cardiac arrest was thought to be "the primary cause of his passing".
