Girl playing in Cirencester garden avoids crash injury

A three-year-old girl narrowly avoided being hit by a car as she played in a garden in Cirencester.

The girl was in the front garden of a house on Springfield Road when the car struck a fence on Wednesday.

The girl was "grabbed" and pulled out of the way of the oncoming car, a police spokeswoman said.

A 15-year-old youth was arrested on suspicion of the aggravated taking of a vehicle without consent and dangerous driving and is being questioned.

Sgt Rich Smith said: "Through the quick thinking of an adult a three-year old child narrowly avoided being hit by the car as it crashed into the front garden of a home."
