Cheltenham crash cyclist critical but stable in hospital

A Cheltenham cyclist who suffered life-threatening head injuries in a crash with a van is now in a critical but stable condition, police have said.

The cyclist is being treated at Bristol's Frenchay Hospital following the collision on New Road, Woodmancote, on Thursday.

Police said he was still unconscious but showing signs of progress.

The driver of the white Citroen van, a 25-year-old man from Cheltenham, was not injured in the incident.

Anyone who saw the collision, which happened just before 1900 BST at the junction with Two Hedges Road is asked to contact police.

The road was closed for three hours while the accident was investigated.
