Three Cheltenham men who burgled the home of an 84-year-old man on the day he buried his brother have been jailed.

The men had been caught on CCTV from inside the victim's house following police concerns for his safety.

Justin Jack Leach, 34, of Devonshire Street, was jailed for four years; Ben Joshua McConnon, 18, of Colne Avenue and Thomas Duncan Warburton of Trinity Lane both received 42 month jail terms.

All three were convicted of burgling his Cheltenham home on 21 June.

Speaking outside court, Det Con Peter Rowsell said the men preyed on the home of an elderly man while he was asleep in bed.

"They showed complete disregard for any impact their actions would have.

"I hope this sentence sends a clear message that those involved in this type of crime could well face a long spell behind bars."
