Gloucestershire man tied up by masked robbers

A man has been tied up by masked thieves in a violent robbery at a house in Gloucestershire.

The 37-year-old was assaulted in the raid at his home in Ewen near Cirencester on Friday evening.

He was forced to open the safe and the robbers stole £1,500 in cash and four watches with a value of £12,000.

The intruders were wearing balaclavas and had Manchester or Liverpool accents.

'Shocking to community'

They tied the victim up before leaving the property. The man did not suffer injuries that required hospital treatment.

Det Con Dan Sivyer from Gloucestershire Police said: "We understand that this incident will be shocking to the community but we would like to reassure them that crimes of this nature are incredibly rare in the area and that it is being thoroughly investigated."

Police said the robbers may have parked a vehicle nearby and are appealing to local residents to report any sightings of people acting suspiciously.
