SKM Colin Buchanan chosen for Cirencester plan

The firm tasked with designing and costing the Cirencester town centre regeneration plan has been appointed.

Transport planning, urban design and economics consultancy SKM Colin Buchanan will take on the project.

It will work alongside Cotswold-based landscape architects Portus + Whitton LLP and Magna Chartered Surveyors.

A Cirencester Town Council spokesman said they were "delighted" to have commissioned the design and costing phase.

He added: "We are now a step closer to the fruition of this aspiration and will be able to plan effectively for the medium-term delivery of the scheme once we have an agreed and costed design."

The project is part of the 'Our Future Cirencester' community plan and is concerned with improving economic regeneration in the town, including tourism and the local economy.

The plans also include making improvements to the transport infrastructure within the town centre and increasing safety and minimising future highway maintenance costs.
