Cash stolen in raid on Brown Jug pub in Cheltenham

More than £6,000 has been stolen from a public house in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Police were called to the Brown Jug on Bath Road early on Monday following reports of the theft.

A Gloucestershire Police spokesman said it was believed the intruders had forced their way into the pub through a back door.

"The cash was stolen from from two safes and potentially another £700 from two fruit machines," he said.

"Anyone who saw a vehicle leaving the scene at speed - sometime between 2:15 and 3:30am - or any suspicious activity in the area, is asked to contact police," the spokesman added.
