Calls for new Tewkesbury hospital meeting rejected

Calls for a public meeting into plans for a new hospital in Tewkesbury have been rejected at a council debate.

More than 2,000 people signed a petition against building the new hospital, calling for the existing hospital to be refurbished.

Borough councillors voted not to press NHS Gloucestershire to hold a public meeting for residents on Monday night.

NHS Gloucestershire has said facilities at the current hospital are outdated, and that refurbishment would cost more.
